 What is my opinion?

So, I found a pretty interesting article about doctors and COVID-19. As you know, because of COVID-19, hospitals are overflowing. Nurses are overworked just like doctors. In these horrible conditions for everyone, it is not surprising to see many nurses quitting. Because of the lack of workers, the risk of medical errors has risen.

It is not normal to see ERs closing because of the lack of employees. We are in 2021, but we have to decline certain patient care because there are not enough workers... Does that not tell us something? At the end of the article, the professionals talked about some solutions and I agree.

We need to make the nursing job more appealing, more interesting. As someone who wants to work in the medical field, seeing the treatment of healthcare workers does not really motivate me to work for something with basically no employees care. Everyone is working overtime, they practically have no breaks, but they are supposed to treat hundreds of patients every day without getting tired or making any mistakes. Even if we want to see them as heroes, they are still humans and they need to be treated like it too.

We need more healthcare workers, but the publicity made for this work is not appealing. This field should be improved to attract more workers that can fill the space that we should not have right now. The work should be more remunerated, the quality of life at work should be improved, and studies for becoming a nurse and/or a doctor should be more accessible. I am not saying that everyone could be a nurse/doctor, but someone who might have difficulties at school, but is motivated and really empathetic, well, it could be a potential candidate.

To conclude, I am for improving the care of nurses and doctors since they are not treated well especially not during our difficult times. Their basic human rights should be respected.

  1. Hello, Mark-Olivier. I found your blog post really pertinent. I think it is really important to talk about the conditions of doctors and nurses. We often hear that nurses are not well treated at work and that their conditions are unacceptable. It's nice of you to talk about that. Maybe if more people are informed about this situation it could get better for them. On another note, I think you could add a picture on this blog post so it will be more appealing for readers. Overall, the rest of your blog seems really interesting and I will definitely take a look at it.

    1. I agree with you, Noémie. Mark-Olivier's choice of hot topic is spot on!

Moreover, a picture or something of the kind would definitely make this blog post more appealing to the eye.

  2. Oh, how I feel for those who struggle with their grades in subjects like English or math, but would make excellent candidates as future physicians. I hope that one day someone is going to come up with a brilliant idea to be able to bypass this way of doing and bring a better approach to the choosing of potential candidates.

Your blog post was very interesting and trendy - you chose well!

    Elements to review:
    - Remove 'the': the hospitals are overflowed
    - Verb tense form (are overflowed): the hospitals are overflowed
    - word choice (we are not enough): we have to decline certain patient care because we are not enough... (here, "we are not enough" means like 'you are not good enough', 'you do not get what you want'. I think that you meant quantity rather than quality)
    - Word order (Does not that): Does not that tell us something?
    - Who is 'they?' At the end of the article, they talked about some solutions and I agree
    - plural? reformulate?: does not really motivate me to work for something with basically no employees care.
    - verb tense (is working): . Everyone is working overtime,
    - word choice (trouble at school): but someone who might have trouble at school (it sounds like you are getting in trouble at school)
    - word choice (right): they are not treated right especially not during our difficult times
    - word choice (more): Their basic human rights should be more respected.
    - use a citation style (you may use any one used in other courses)

  4. Hello Marko! I found your article particularly interesting. It is especially great how you linked your hot topic with the crisis we are going through right now. I also agree with you, it is infuriating that workers in the field have virtually no care. These people are saving our lives and they should be treated better.

  5. Hi Marko ! This article is on-point ! Just like the rest of your blog. I wanted to share quick news that may be joyful information to you. Right now, universities are reducing the importance of the R Score in admissions to medical programs, in favour of the Casper test and interviews. They are trying to do exactly what you're hoping for: get motivated and empathic workers rather than just academic buffs.

Well done, I had fun reading your sources.
